Tales & Frames RPG-themed Animation Course

What is Tales & Frames?
A unique course where role-playing games, art, storytelling, improvisation and animation come together. Children create unforgettable adventures, bring their ideas to life and turn them into their own animated films.

Course Structure
The year is divided into several adventure campaigns and creative projects. Students can join at the beginning of any new adventure and gradually build a portfolio of animations inspired by the stories they create together.

Adventure Structure
Each adventure begins with creating or developing characters. Early sessions focus on exploring the story through role-playing, while later sessions gradually shift towards turning those adventures into an animated project.

Session Structure
Each session includes four parts: a short art or improv warm-up, a 1h session of a role-playing game, a short break, and time to work on the creative project. Sessions last 2.5 hours.

Next Adventure
Our next campaign begins this September. More details coming soon.

Practical Information
Please wear comfortable clothes that can get messy and bring a water bottle and a proper snack. We provide tea and apples but generally kids are quite hungry by the time of break

Why Storytelling and Improvisation Matter
Stories are one of the oldest ways humans make sense of the world. Long before children learn to write essays or give presentations, they learn by imagining, pretending and telling stories.
Improvisation encourages children to think on their feet, communicate clearly and respond confidently to unexpected situations. As they speak in character, invent dialogue and build stories together, they naturally develop confidence, creativity and expressive language.
Storytelling also teaches children how ideas connect. They begin to understand cause and effect, build believable characters, create meaningful conflicts and solve problems in creative ways. These skills are valuable not only for creative careers but for writing, presenting ideas, collaborating with others and communicating clearly throughout life.

What Children Learn Through Role-Playing Games
Role-playing games are far more than entertainment. Every adventure encourages children to work as a team, solve problems creatively and make decisions together.
There is rarely only one correct solution. Players learn to negotiate, listen to different opinions, support one another and adapt when plans change. Along the way they practise empathy by seeing situations through their characters' perspectives and experience the consequences of their choices in a safe and imaginative environment.
Speaking in character also develops confidence. Children gradually become more comfortable expressing ideas, presenting themselves in front of others and communicating clearly. They discover that their ideas matter and that even mistakes can become exciting parts of the story.
These experiences help develop teamwork, leadership, resilience, imagination, communication and problem-solving skills that extend far beyond the game table.

From Adventure to Animation
Our role-playing adventures don't end when the game finishes. Instead, they become the starting point for each child's own creative project.
The stories created during the game inspire original animated films. Children develop their characters, write short scripts, create storyboards and design everything they need for filming, from moving characters to miniature sets and props.
Using stop-motion animation, they photograph each movement frame by frame before recording voices, adding sound effects and editing their finished film.
By the end of the course, every child will have created their own animated project and experienced the full creative process—from the very first idea to a finished piece of work.
More importantly, they'll develop patience, project planning, visual storytelling, creative problem-solving and the confidence to turn an idea into something real.
